I watched from the window as she walked away. She had to have known we wouldn't just leave her, forget she existed. Even now, I can hear the thoughts of the others as they plan who will keep an eye on her and when.

How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye? I can understand her reaction, though. In her short life she's had to say farewell to too many people she has loved. I know that we'll see her again. It's in her nature, her blood.
