Summary: In the end, she had no other choice.

Notes: Yeah, I have no idea.
The choice had been so easy to make at the time. To save Renesmee, Edward, Jacob, the Cullens... to save them and everyone else that she cared about, she had crossed the invisible line drawn in the snow by Aro. Jane had glared, and Alec had shaken his head. Caius seemed angry that his plans for conquering the Cullens was being thwarted. Marius just looked like he was overcome by boredom -- something she was used to seeing. However, Aro looked happier than she had ever seen him look.
She didn't answer Edward when he called her name and when she heard him start to come forward she lifted her head to look at Emmett and Jasper.
"Hold him, damn it! If you care about him at all, keep him restrained!"
There had been shock and denial on the faces of every one of her new family. However, when she looked at Esme, she could tell that her adopted mother understood what she was doing.
"We will come for you," Esme whispered, her hand at her throat. Her soft voice carried across to Bella. "I promise you, Bella. We will not abandon you."
Felix and the other guards laughed at Esme's vow, but Bella knew that Esme would make sure they came and rescued her -- or die trying.
"Don't," she said, trying to force strength into her words. "It won't do any good. I've made my choice."
