The first time he kissed her, she couldn't help but wonder if he was really kissing her, or if he was kissing a memory.
She didn't ask.
The second time he kissed her, she had no doubt that she was the one he was kissing. He was holding her close to him like she was something precious and murmuring her name between kisses.
After that, she no longer had to worry that he was seeing her as only a mirror image of the woman he had loved before and lost.
Their relationship didn't affect the way they did their jobs and no one on the team were aware of the change of relationship between the two of them.
Well, if she were honest, she would admit that that assumption probably wasn't true. She knew that Abby was aware of it, but that she would never say a word to disturb their privacy.
Just like she would never reveal that she knew about Abby and Stephen.
Each time Nick went through an anomaly for any reason, Jenny could feel every muscle in her body tense up as she waited for him to come back. She hated this feeling because she would never ask him to stay behind and let the others go. It wasn't in him to let others take risks that he wouldn't take himself.
But that didn't stop the tension or the worry -- or the frantic relief that she showed him each time he came back as soon as they were alone.
