Ever since the day he almost lost her, her stepfather had tried very hard to make sure that Taylor never doubted he cared about her again. He meant well, but there were times that his ideas were not exactly thought out.
"Da, what's this?"
"Happy birthday, Taylor. I got you something special for your sixteenth birthday. I saw in a book that cakes and ale were the best gifts to give the people you love this year.”
She didn’t remind him that she couldn’t drink since he had gone through the trouble to make it something really special for her.
