Introductions
It wasn’t the best introduction, but later, when she thought about it, there was no way it could have gone any differently. After all, finding one supposed extinct species of a dinosaur and then running from another in the woods, only to almost run into a different kind made all normal introductions go by the wayside. She probably could have been nicer when she told Cutter to stay in the creature’s sight, but at the time she couldn’t help it. He was scaring the creature and there was no knowing what it would do if they spooked it too much.
Lost
Getting lost had never been part of the plan, but that was exactly how she found herself. She was holding onto a lizard and running through the forest. It was a forest that she hadn’t spent much time in before today. However, finding a dead cow up in the tree had spooked her companion and she got turned around when she started chasing him. When she heard something chasing them, she had run faster, wanting to make sure that Ben was home safe. Only, somehow she became turned around in the woods and now she was staring at a dinosaur.
Determined
She didn’t like lying to other people. It bothered her a great deal. She really didn’t like having to lie when there were children involved. She had been through that enough in her own life. Even though she understood Claudia Brown’s logic about why the lie had to be told, she just didn’t like having to do it. When she saw how betrayed Ben looked, she was determined that she would make it up to him somehow. His mother thought he was exaggerating and she knew that she had to find a way to change the way his mother was thinking.
Rex
She wasn’t sure what it was about Rex that had made her feel so protective of him the moment that she saw him. Maybe because he was displaced in time and it was a reminder of how she often felt. This wasn’t his time, but he had decided to come back through the anomaly again. He had come back on his own and now he was trusting her to look after him. She would. She took him back to her flat and set him up with his own space. She wasn’t letting him go back to Lester’s lab scientists.
Moonlight and Forgotten
It was times like this that she remembered clearly how lonely a night could be. She was sitting in her flat and looking outside at the moonlight. That last few days had changed a lot of things in her life, but they hadn’t changed the big things on her mind. They hadn’t changed that she still didn’t know if she was keeping her job at the zoo. They hadn’t made anything clearer about the events of the anomalies or the way she was drawn to her new sort of teammates. They hadn’t changed that she still felt she was forgotten.
