“I loved her quite a lot,” Sarah said suddenly, looking up from the fourth shot of whatever they had been drinking this time.

“Excuse me?” Becker’s eyes were bleary as he looked at his companion.

“Abby,” Sarah explained, peering at the table of empty glasses. “Never told her. Never got the chance. But from the moment that I saw her, there was just something there.”

Becker nodded. “She got under your skin and you can’t let her go?”

“And now that bitch has gone and taken her from me.” Sarah downed her shot and slammed her glass on the table.
