Ziva was generally a master at keeping her emotions masked and private. She had a lot of practice at it and was usually careful to keep that mask in place no matter what might take place.
It's why she was able to tell Tony that he needed to tell Jeanne that he loved her when Jeanne had gotten hurt that he hadn't told her how he felt.
It's why after they broke up, she was able to be his partner and tell him truthfully that she had lied to someone she loved.
It's why during the investigation when Jeanne had lied and accused Tony of murder, that she had not only refrained from killing the woman, but told Tony that he needed to give the other woman a clean break like she needed. The other woman needed her mind set to rest about things.
Yes, Ziva could always keep her emotions in check and her reactions masked.
That is, until she came in one morning to find a small stuffed bear sitting on her desk. It held a simple note.
Thank you. For everything.
She knew who it was from, and it was a good thing no one else was in the office yet, because, for a fraction of a moment, Ziva allowed her emotions to shine through her careful mask.
